A Message from Eustace W. Mita
Dear Fellow Stewards,
Greetings! As we closed the summer of 2020 with all our experiences becoming memories, we look forward to the Fall.
With COVID we are all disappointed that we have to cancel this year's October Washington Gathering for our Stewards and Trustees (and the opportunity to dine with the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre.) Instead, the Trustees will meet via teleconference on Tuesday, October 27. One of the items on the agenda will be the board reviewing and approving the 2021 grant requests from Our Holy Father. Once approved we will provide you with details on the 2021 grants.
In addition, we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of our Saint John Paul II scholarship program. The recipients (Saeman Scholars) are preparing to return in October for study at Pontifical Universities in Rome. We wish them a grace filled academic year guided by Saint John Paul II. I invite you to read the news release for more details.
The search for an Executive Director continues and the fiscal year audit is underway with preliminary financials to be reported on at the October board meeting. We will provide updates in our next newsletter.
Lastly, It is with a heavy heart that we learned of the passing of Charles Drury, also known as CLD. Charles and his wife Shirley joined the Foundation in 1999. Charles was a past member of the board of trustees, the investment and development committees where he was known for his love and concern for the poor. I invite you to read more on Charles's legacy.
Thank you for this opportunity to keep you updated on the Papal Foundation and thank you for all you do in Christ's name. God Bless you all.
